Formby Buoy Rescue
Occasionally shipping buoys break away during storms and get washed up on local beaches, like here at Formby. To recover the Buoy the recovery team first has to cut and remove the heavy duty chains before attempting to manipulate it onto the back of a carrier where it is securely held. This has happened at least a couple of times in the last several years that I know of and is just a case of luck to stumble upon such an event. Further up the coast at Ainsdale & Southport recoveries also occur quite often for cars that have been stuck in the sands, when visitors have not heeded warnings, parked in undesignated areas or left the car overnight when high tides occur.
