Tower View; Château de Gruyères

This image is taken from within one of the towers of the Castle of Gruyères or more properly Château de Gruyères, looking out at another corner and tower of the Château. The Château de Gruyères is situated in the medieval town of Gruyères and was built in the 13th century. It is a Swiss heritage site of significance and the seat of nobility for centuries which ended in the 16th century, when creditors assumed the responsibility of the castle, the creditors being the towns of Berne and Fribourg.
Situated in Switzerland, Gruyères itself is purchased on a hill and overlooks the Saane valley and Lake of Gruyère, as well as views of the Alps and is home to the famous Gruyère Cheese.
