Wildlife: Micro Moths
This Gallery is for the Lepidoptera known as micro moths. These are our more ancient moths evolutionary wise and generally (but not always) smaller that the macro moths.
Tortrix Micro Moth (Celypha lacunana)

Celypha lacunana is a widespread, present throughout Europe and commonly occurring moth in the UK that flies at night but is easily disturbed during the day. Class Insecta, Order Lepidoptera, Family Tortricidae, Tribe Olethreutinae and Genus Celypha. The larvae are polyphagous i.e. they feed on a wide variety of herbaceous plants. This was found and photographed in a hedgerow whilst out walking.
